![]() ![]() There are many other vignettes, from test animations to voice session. There are seven deleted scenes with crude storyboards and voice-overs by someone other than the voiceover actors. In the case of Finding Nemo, a deleted scene never made it past the storyboards. There are frequent stops to show deleted scenes. The comedy trio of co-directors Andrew Stanton and Lee Unkrich and co-writer Bob Petersen are the hosts, cracking jokes with each other as they talk about the film. The visual commentary runs 133 minutes, 33 minutes more than the movie. If you leave the disc running, you get some nice animations and hear the voices of the characters, which are all very funny. Both discs also have a fish icon in their menu of options, which gets rid of the menus and voices and turns your TV into a fish tank. This is such a simple yet effective feature, I really hope it catches on. All of the menu items on both discs have a timer next to them, which illuminates when you select it. Disc one has the widescreen edition of the film, as well as an introduction from the co-directors Andrew Stanton and Lee Unkrich, who advise the viewer to watch the widescreen version instead of the fullscreen version on disc two, which was a nice touch. Score: 8 out of 10 Packaging and Extras Finding Nemo comes in the same packaging as other Disney Special Edition discs, with the Amaray keep case in a cardboard sleeve. Together, they team up to find Nemo, encountering sharks in a 12 step program to stop eating other fish (and failing miserably in one case), a school of Cliff Clavens, turtles that talk like California surfer dudes and lobstahs with a wicked Boston accent. The only clue to Nemo's whereabouts is a dropped mask with an address on it. He runs into Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), an extremely absent-minded Blue Tang fish who forgets everything a moment after learning it. ![]() His son's impudence gets him captured by a deep sea diver and hauled off in a speed boat, which Marlin has no chance of catching. ![]() Still fretting over the near-total wipe out of his family, Marlin is a very reluctant to take his son to school but does so. Cut to the future, when Marlin is living alone with his one surviving offspring Nemo (Alexander Gould). When he comes to, his wife and all but one of their eggs are gone. Plans get thrown into chaos when a vicious-looking barracuda shows up. There the two plan to raise their four hundred children, currently a mass of tiny eggs in a small cave. The Movie Marlin (Woody, er, Albert Brooks) and Coral (Elizabeth Perkins) are the proud new owners of a sea anemone with a stellar view of the ocean. It's got all of the usual elements we love about Pixar movies and animation in general and is probably the most emotional Pixar film yet, in several ways. Finding Nemo was the top grossing movie of 2003 and Pixar's biggest success yet. Not likely any time soon, with Brad Bird's The Incredibles coming next year, unless its marketing gets screwed up as badly as The Iron Giant. Pixar Animation Studios hasn't failed yet, and I'll bet more than a few people are praying for it to happen.
